SpeedFusion: Peplink's Technology Can Supercharge Connectivity
Share
SpeedFusion is Peplink’s in-house technology to supercharge connectivity by leveraging your network’s different WAN connections, whether broadband, 5G, LTE, satellite, etc. It enhances bandwidth, minimizes latency, and ensures seamless failover for real-time applications like VoIP, video streaming, or mission-critical cloud services, where stability is essential.
Applying SpeedFusion in the Real World
At the core of SpeedFusion is bonding, the ability to aggregate multiple connections in a single virtual pipeline. By bonding the bandwidth from different connectivity sources, the network’s throughput and reliability are enhanced. While Bandwidth Bonding intelligently combines multiple connections, Dynamic Weighted Bonding, introduced in Firmware 8.3.0, ensures only connections of similar latency levels are bonded to prevent being affected by weaker links.
What makes Peplink stand out from other brands is its use of packet-based bonding rather than the commonly seen session-based methods like IPsec bonding or the older LACP bonding. And with technically no cap on the number of WANs, Peplink’s bonding has achieved real-world examples of up to 101 connections bonded. However, while bonding improves bandwidth, Peplink also incorporates other technologies to improve latency, address packet loss, and other common connectivity challenges.
In the event of a disconnection, SpeedFusion’s Hot Failover instantly switches traffic to an active link, ensuring uninterrupted session persistence. It intelligently redirects traffic across remaining connections, providing a seamless, undisturbed user experience. Furthermore, Smoothing reduces bottlenecks and latency by filling connectivity gaps. The use of these technologies become significantly advantageous in remote locations, mobile environments, or mission-critical operations.
One Step Forward with FEC
SpeedFusion’s Forward Error Correction (FEC) technology adds further reliability to your network by proactively detecting and correcting packet loss before impacting your applications. Instead of using up bandwidth to duplicate packets, it sends reserve packets that can be used to mitigate data loss with interpolation.
The new Firmware 8.5.0 introduces an “Adaptive” option for FEC, which offers dynamic packet recovery by adjusting redundancy levels and rates between 6.7 and 20%. This ensures seamless activity, even in unstable network environments, while optimizing bandwidth consumption.
Applying SpeedFusion in the Real World
Whether it’s for remote mining sites, mobile broadcasting, or emergency services, SpeedFusion’s bonding paired with FEC ensures critical applications run smoothly regardless of the environment they’re in. Or if it’s businesses and institutions that require always-on connectivity, these technologies can be easily leveraged to maintain uptime and uninterrupted service.
As the demand for stable and reliable connectivity continues to grow, regardless of the industry, Peplink is ready to supercharge your connectivity with SpeedFusion. More than just a bonding tool, it offers a complete solution with technologies to address your network issues, truly realizing unbreakable connectivity.
